Imprecise Data

The field of computational geometry has traditionally focused on (combinatorial) computational problems on well-defined geometric inputs. For the most part, this has ignored the fact that real-world data is typically full of imprecision and errors. This workshop will study the implications of imprecise input data on computational geometry problems and their underlying combinatorial structure.

The reading list for the workshop is now available and contains a brief introduction and (incomplete) list of relevant papers. Each workshop participant is expected to bring an open problem related to the topic of imprecise data.

Workshop Location

The workshop will be held at the NICTA University of Sydney Campus on the 5th floor of the USyd IT building on the corner of Shepherd and Cleveland streets (map).

Local Accomodations

The organizers recommend the Rydges Hotel Camperdown (rooms approximately $120/night). Participants can also consult the University of Sydney's List of Casual or Temporary Accommodation.

Transportation to ISAAC

Many of the workshop participants will be attending ISAAC 2008 in Gold Coast during the week following the workshop. There are three airlines that fly from Sydney (SYD) to Gold Coast (OOL):

List of Confirmed Participants

The following participants have confirmed their attendance at the workshop: Hee-Kap Ahn Sang Won Bae, Dan Chen, Otfried Cheong, Joachim Gudmundsson, Allan Jorgensen, Stefan Langerman, Maarten Loffler, Pat Morin, Marc Scherfenberg, Michiel Smid, Tasos Viglas, and Thomas Wolle.
